26 January 2019 11:00 - 13:30
Do you want to declutter your house? Do you want to clear out some of your household items? Or, fancy picking up something (good-as) new, for free? Then come to our Enfield Give and Take Day!
Please note that this event is only open to residents of Enfield - please see the ‘How the events work’ section for more information.
What is a Give and Take Day?
A Give and Take Day is a type of community exchange event where people can bring any household item(s) that is in good condition but that they no longer want. These items are then offered for free to anyone who would like them. You don’t need to bring something in order to take something else. There is a set ‘giving’ time, before the ‘taking’ begins with a 30 minute break in between to allow us to arrange the room.
North London Waste Authority has been running Give and Take Days for a number of years. Last year, our events were attended by 670 residents who brought along with them almost 13 tonnes of materials for reuse – that’s about the same weight as 8 cars! Give and Take Days help ensure that items which are still in a good condition are not just thrown away but are offered for free to those that need them.
When and where is the Enfield Give and Take Day happening?
This year's event will take place on Saturday, 26th January 2019, 11.00 am – 1.30 pm at Winchmore Hill Quakers Premises, 61 Church Hill, Winchmore Hill, N21 1LE
Giving times: 11:00 am – 12.00 pm; Break: 12.00 pm – 12.30 pm; Taking times: 12.30 pm – 1.30 pm
How the event works
The Give & Take Day event lasts for two and a half hours; you can donate good quality items in the first hour and take what you need in the final hour. There will be a 30 minute break between ‘giving’ and ‘taking’ to help us reorganise the room and allow you a better browsing experience among the items.
Please note that on the event day you will be asked to register in order to attend. Each event is only open to residents of Enfield and you may be asked to show proof of address - this can be your council tax, driving licence or utilities bills.
After registration, you will be able to leave your unwanted item(s) in the designated drop-off area and you will be given a ticket to enter the room during the 'taking' part of the event. Tickets are numbered from 1 onwards and ticket holders will enter the room based on the number they receive, for example, the participant holding ticket number 1 will be at the front of the queue and will be the first person entering the room. Give & Take events can be extremely popular so you will likely need to spend time queuing in order to register for the event and enter at the ‘taking’ time.
