After its success in 2016 and 2017, the London Upcycling Show is back for 2018! North London Waste Authority and environmental charity Groundwork London have joined forces to put on this event, as part of NLWA’s participation in the European Week for Waste Reduction. We want to help people get excited about upcycling furniture – while simultaneously rescuing valuable resources from being thrown away.
If you missed last year’s event, it is a chance for people who live, work or study in one of the seven north London boroughs (Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey, Islington and Waltham Forest) to enter a piece of ‘upcycled’ furniture into a competition.
If you love turning pre-loved furniture into upcycled masterpieces, or you’ve always wanted an excuse to try, take the challenge and sign up for our upcycling competition. We’ll be providing the pre-loved furniture for you to upcycle for free. So all you need to do is to have some ideas and materials to make your piece of furniture into a newly desirable item, which you can keep at the end of the competition. We’ll also be running some free upcycling workshops, so you can get some guidance from the experts if you’d like a bit of help. You could also win up to £100 to spend at a DIY store, among other prizes!
There are only 25 competition places, so act fast and register now. Sign up by 12 noon on Monday 15 October 2018 to participate.
London Upcycling Competition: Registration to the competition will open soon.
All upcycling entries will be displayed and judged at the third London Upcycling Show on Sunday 18 November 11am – 2pm. This fun, family-friendly event showcases upcycling at its very best, and is packed with practical workshops, interactive demonstrations and creative exhibitions.
Come along to be inspired, get new ideas and have a go at upcycling. Celebrate with us as furniture, homeware, textiles and electricals are saved from being thrown away, and help transform them into fun, quality items for the home.
